Accessibility of Power BI dashboards
Each of the JSNA chapters on our website include multiple Power BI dashboards to present key data.
We have designed each dashboard with accessibility in mind by:
- making sure all elements within them meet colour contrast requirements
- using alt text to describe imagery and marking graphics as decorative when appropriate
- ensuring the tab order reflects the visual order of each dashboard
However, we recognise that there are limitations to the Power BI dashboards which mean our dashboards are not fully accessible.
The non-compliances are:
- when higher percentages of zoom are used, the dashboards require scrolling in two dimensions this fails WCAG AA 1.4.10
- assistive technologies may not recognise some text as a heading text, this may make the information difficult for some users to understand and fails WCAG A 1.3.1
- the dashboards are not fully keyboard operable which fails WCAG A 2.2.1
We are actively following the cross-government accessibility discussions around these limitations as they continue to be discussed with Microsoft to work towards fixes.
The data in each of our dashboards is also discussed in the written narratives of each topic and if you need information in a different format such as an accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille email Public.HealthTeam@stockton.gov.uk
